MEN’S DESIGNER SHOES

In the not too recent past, women got all of the attention from most fashion and shoe designers.  Though it’s been a slow transformation, men are finally getting their due when it comes to style.

Many high-end designers now offer shoes for men in many different styles, capitalizing on men’s propensity for brand loyalty.  Many men will find one brand, perhaps two, that suits them and remain loyal to that brand regardless of what type of shoe they are looking for.  Women, on the other hand, will buy the style they like, regardless which company makes it.   Designers of men’s shoes have widened the options for gentlemen in an attempt of capturing their business for the long term.

Gucci ‘s website shows that Gucci is attempting to tap into aforementioned loyalty, especially when it comes to younger men.  The designer that previously made only dress shoes has now expanded its line to more casual offerings like loafers, suede deck shoes, and athletic shoes.  Both high and low-top sneakers are available as are flip-flops and hiking style boots.

Prada similarly now offers mountain boots, suede driving moccasins, many different styles of loafers, and a number of choices in both high and low top style athletic shoes.

Bruno Magli’s fall 2009 offerings run the gamut from ultra-casual moccasin-styled boots and shoes to classic wing tips and wing tip styled boots.  Manufactured in Bologna, Italy since the 1930’s, Bruno Magli shoes have always exuded Italian sexiness.  Magli has also ventured into the realm of styling for younger men, while also keeping true to those roots.

Meanwhile, looking at Hugo Boss’s latest fall offerings, they are clearly catering to the under-40 demographic that is their bread and butter.  They offer trendy designs and a very hip “image” that younger men love. You will find the types of shoes extensive in the Boss line, including golf shoes, canvas deck shoes, athletic shoes in styles for every activity, and lots of great quality loafers in leather and suede, in addition to great looking boots.  And yes, they do offer flip flop sandals!

Cole Haan seems to be the most aggressive in targeting the younger generation buyer, with bold styling and bright colors.  Among their offerings are also a very wide variety of chukka boots and sandals varying from flip flops to leather fisherman sandals which cover nearly the entire ComfortableFoot.com.  Among the loafer styles, there are some very casual looks in suede and moccasin styling, and also very refined looking tasseled loafers suitable for most events.

Kenneth Cole New York  has two separate divisions; this main one, and the Kenneth Cole Reaction division which is geared specifically toward younger people without the means to purchase higher end designer shoes.  The Kenneth Cole New York offers excellent quality shoes along more traditional lines. These will appeal to more mature men, and are heavy on the loafer and oxford styles, though there are also sandals and boots in the mix. Kenneth Cole Reaction shoes definitely have the younger, funkier vibe, along with the lower price point. In this collection, you’ll find more color, more sandals and clogs, and more rugged looking styles of both boots and shoes.
